Our Family Vacations | ||
Every year we try to go somewhere special for a vacation or break frrom the normal everyday activities we have going on (work, school, etc). Our adventures usually involve family either going to visit them or traveling together. Usually the grand kids will go along in the summer and we try and go to new places and see things of significance, either new places we've never been or that has some historic significance that's interesting to learn about. Here's some of the things we've done over the years... |

Summer 2023 - Trip to Camp Fimfo in Waco, TX |
||
Posted: July 11-13, 2023
So we got some of the extended family together for a "camping trip" to a resort style location in Waco, TX this summer. Some of the cousins were able to make it so it was fun to still have the kids along. They are all getting older now so its more difficult to get their schedules to allow for summer vacations anymore. We had Bethany, George, Colt, Addie, Allison, Haley and Jalen along with us. We spent a day, at the camp, and another day exploring Waco, while finishing up with a Butter My Biscuit breakfast before heading for home. See what a Waco adventure looks like... |

Winter 2023 - Royal Caribbean Cruise to Mexico |
||
Posted: February 10-16, 2023
This year we went on a Royal Caribbean Cruise to Mexico with our friends Nellie and Danny. February is somewhat off season and with the Covid effect, the boat was not as crowed as I expected. The cruise was a 5 day adventure hitting two ports in Mexico; Costa Maya and Cozumel. This was our first time on Royal Caribbean (The Adventure of the Seas) and I liked the ship and its amenities. It was a fun week with excursions, good food, and good service. And of course, good friends :-) See the highlights below! |

Winter 2022 - Unintended Road Trip to California |
||
Posted: December 26-31, 2022
So we intended this trip to be a flying journey to Go to San Jose and visit family, then drive down to SoCal and visit more family. A Southwest systems meltdown during the holiday travel rush nixed that shutting down all flights the day we were supposed to fly out (26th). We made a snap decision after 2 hours at the airport with no confirmation that flights would be taking off that we would jump in the car and drive it. Cut the visit back to just SoCal and save Northern California for another day. We drove all day into AZ and stayed at a hotel, and then proceeded to get to Lee and Karen's on the 27th and spend 4 days sightseeing with them. We then jumped back in the car and headed home. Not the travel plans we intended but it worked - had a good trip. |

We spent two weeks on the road traveling through the Western states to see some of the National Parks and to see family in California. In total, we covered over 5 thousand miles in our Sienna and visited 5 of the major national parks plus a couple significant places that are fun to spend time at. This was the first road trip with us that Mia and Kalyn have gone on, plus we had Charlie along as well. We drove through 8 states over 14 days visiting 5 National Parks - quite a trek. |

We traveled to the New England area for a week in the Fall to try and see the changing of the seasons and all the different sites around Boston, MA and the surrounding area. Ken and Hadie drove their electric car out there as a road trip and we flew to save time. While in New England, we traveled all over the state and saw some really neat stuff. Hadie got her fill of Lobster I think on this trip and we found some of the best chowder I can remember. See what all adventures we got into below! |

This year we decided to tag along with Sean and Kalyn and their friends on a ski trip to Taos, NM. Haley and Charlie went along as well so they could learn to ski and snow board. On the drive up we saw some old stops we used to visit when traveling across country and we drove through some really pretty country. This summer we planned another roadtrip with a destination in Virginia, then traveling to visit with family in New York, and see some of New York's sights. Posted: July - August 2011
During the summer of 2011, we were fortunate to be able to take a road trip around the country with Mamaw and the grandkids, to see the sights of our nation and spend time with family. We were on the road for approximately 4 weeks, going coast to coast. We saw a great deal of history, experienced new adventures, and spent some real quality time together. Haley and Charlie kept journals as we traveled through this adventure - this is a collection of our rememberances of our travels as they occurred - hope you enjoy!' |
